Job Description
A series of 3 sails to cover the deck to provide shading and a fabric roof to a separate outdoor decked entertaining area overlooking the client’s pool.
Challenges
Challenges
As our client was a roofer, the main deck structure had been designed and built with the original intention of installing a hard roof. Planning restrictions however meant that a removable fabric cover had to be installed.
Construction of the main members out of timber meant we needed to design and fabricate special steel post fittings for attaching to timber uprights and which provided sufficient high and low post differentiation for optimal shading results and integrity of the sails and structure generally.
We were able to harmonize various building materials and methods on an existing structure which were not necessarily our first choice in designing and installing a system of shade sails of this type.
Outcome
Outcome
Our innovative use of different building materials, featuring fabric, achieved a comprehensive shade result for our customer.
